Liverpool fans flock to Athens in their thousands despite only 17 000 tickets being allocated to each side and the UEFA 'family' receiving almost half of all the tickets. But for many fans it's the mass gathering of fellow supporters, over 40 000 hearts beating as one, that matters
And nobody could accuse us of having an easy ride
I have to mention the great fans of PSV. When Liverpool beat PSV and knocked them out of the competition, my 10 year old boy was amazed to be standing near hundreds of orange Dutchmen who were singing along to You'll Never Walk Alone and applauding us and their fellow Dutchmen at Liverpool. Class!
Unfortunately though, it wasn't to be. An ageing AC Milan side proved themselves worthy of the title once again. Liverpool played well and did look the most promising side but it is results that count and AC found the back of the net twice, Liverpool once.
